  • Commemorative Scottish Oak Tree to be planted in Torphins Park

A Scottish Oak tree is to be planted in Torphins Park on Tuesday 11th April 2023 at 11:00 am to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee and reign of Queen Elizabeth II.  Torphins Community Council has purchased the  3m Scottish Oak to be planted by Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, Sandy Manson, accompanied by Provost of Aberdeenshire Cllr. Judy Whyte, and members of Torphins Community Council.  Members of the community are invited to come along to the planting which will be in the area immediately west of the Golden Jubilee Stone.  Thanks to Aberdeenshire Council for preparation, staking and protection.

  • Torphins Growing Living Greenspaces Project - Improving areas for wildlife & people.

The next phase of the Greenspaces project is to plant trees & shrubs (end Feb / beginning of March) to increase the biodiversity of some of our greenspaces.
The Team are proposing to plant trees & shrubs in 3 different areas of the village; far end of the Park, Bridge Crescent and at the start of Kinnairdy Terrace - as detailed at links.

We will only be given small plants (about 40cm) - so they will take a while to establish.  The plants have been chosen, with guidance from a local ecologist, to try and make the most positive impacts on wildlife from the list available from the Council.  Please have a look at the proposals below and let us know what you think

  • Broadway Partners are a commercial business referred by Aberdeenshire's Digital Engagement Unit, seeking to build fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) across parts of rural Aberdeenshire.  Community members may wish to pursue Broadway as a more viable alternative where BT Openreach plans are not adequate.
